Having announced the year-long Gates of Oblivion expansion last year, Bethesda have now revealed the first chapter is called Blackwood. Though it will arrive June 1, 2021, for PC, Mac, and Stadia players, PS4 and Xbox One owners will have to wait slightly longer until June 8.
Taking its name from Blackwood swamp, this expansion is set 800 years before the events of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. You’ll set out to uncover the evil schemes of Mehrunes Dagon, Daedric Prince of Destruction, within a standalone tale that won’t rely on previous expansions. It will also contain roughly 30 hours of content and introduce companions.
Speaking further about the new storyline, ESO’s Creative Director Rich Lambert confirmed:
In preparation for this, a separate DLC dungeon, called Flames of Ambition, is also launching, which leads players directly into this new chapter. That launches on March 8, 2021, and, like before, console owners will need to wait an additional week before getting their hands on it.
We’ll bring you Elder Scrolls Online news as it happens, so stay tuned for further updates.
