Open the app and Enable Guided Access
Guided access works on individual app terms. When you enable this feature before you launch the app, you can cause problems.
Firstly, you can launch the app and later return to the device’s home screen. To switch on the feature, you are to navigate through to the settings, then accessibility. Go back to the application to confirm if the feature got enabled.
Re-enable guided access.
Another way to solve the guided access issue is by re-enabling the processes in the accessibility settings. However, guided access must be enabled before you can try this;
Open the Settings app. From the General, navigate through to Accessibility. The guided access would be found in the accessibility. Disable and then re-enable it. Open an app that uses guided access and triple-tap the home or side button (for iPhone X and later models).
Update device
Bugs or similar issues when guided access encounters certain apps may also be the reason why this feature doesn’t work on iOS devices.
Thankfully, Apple is constantly updating all its components, including software and guided access.
Installing a new update may fix the issue that is causing the feature to malfunction. Check for and install updates on your iOS device:
Connect the device to the charging adapter and connect to a WiFi network. Go to Settings> General. There will be a pop requiring an update of the software Click on the download button and then install. After downloading the update, you need to commence installation by clicking on the update button. If desired, you can select Later to schedule the installation later. When prompted, enter your passcode. Wait for the update to be installed. Re-enable guided access to see if this feature works correctly for apps that require it.
Restart The Ios Device
If the latest software is installed on your iOS device but Guided Access does not work, please reboot to resolve the issue.
However, for iPhone SE (1st generation), 5 or earlier:
The button visible on the phone should be held down until there is a display of a slider popup. You are to press down the slider to the right, then await the turning off of the device. After some minutes, you are to switch on the device. Press and hold the button at the top of the phone until there is a display of an apple logo.
Non Visible Button on Ipad:
Press the volume button down and also the side buttons until the slider displays. Wait for the device to turn off by dragging the slider to the right. Press and hold down the button which is at the top to switch on the device. You will see a display of the Apple logo.
The visible home button on Ipad:
The slider will display when you press and hold down the button which is at the top. Wait a while for the device to turn off by dragging the slider to the right. Press and hold the button at the top until you see the Apple logo to turn the device back on. When the device restart is complete, triple-tap the home button while using the app for which you want the features to function, and turn on guided access again.
Reset iOS device
It is necessary to do a factory reset if the reboot refuses to work. For such permanent issues, you may need to clear everything from your phone. Therefore, keep in mind that resetting your phone will erase all your data, settings, and accounts.
IOS 15 Upgrade Reset Method:
Navigate through to the settings folder and open the settings app. Scroll to find the General. Hence, click on reset/transfer iPhone. Finally, choose the option to erase all settings and contents.
Latter IOS versions (14 and below):
Navigate through to the settings folder and open the settings app. Scroll to find the General folder. Hence, click on reset. Navigate through to the option to Erase all content and settings. Log back into your Apple account to install the required apps, having completed the device reset. Open the app that enables guided access and enables features. Triple tap the home button to start a guided access session.
Contact Apple
If guided access does not work properly after performing a reset, you will need to contact Apple Support to schedule a reservation at the Genius Bar. They can look at your device and find a solution after telling them what’s wrong with it.
Finally, it’s worth understanding that guided access is a great parental control feature, but it’s something else.
Turn on guided access and enable the mode when working with your app.
You can also set a time limit when you enable guided access and set the phone to ignore touch input and turn off all notifications.
