Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us was originally released in 2013 to critical acclaim–not just for game mechanics and storytelling, but for its outstanding musical direction and composition. By the end of the last year, the game and its HD remake received 6 awards for its music and soundtrack, as well as 8 more awards for its overall sound design. If you’re still skeptical, check out this live performance of the game’s theme as played by composer Gustavo Santaolalla:
While the vinyl record might at first seem outdated to the uninitiated, it’s also a lossless (uncompressed) format, perfect for capturing Santaolalla’s raw acoustic tones. Produced by The Mondo Music Group, The Last of Us Original Soundtrack will be collected on four 180 Gram Black Vinyl LP’s, and will also include the soundtrack for the “Left Behind” DLC, as well as original artwork by Olly Moss and Jay Shaw.
The Last of Us 4XLP OST is set to appear on Mondo’s store page on June 22nd for $75.
