Above all, we’re a place where, no matter what walk of life you’ve chosen to trudge along—we’ve got a sidewalk for you. And, likely, that metaphorical stretch of concrete is occupied by a Bay Area artist these next two or so weeks.

The idea-child of the Intersection for the Arts,  Common Grounds brings together 105 artists and 23 nonprofit arts organizations to bring some semblance of creative life the public alleyways and tunnels of Natoma, Mary, Minna, and 5th Streets.

Common Grounds takes on important quandaries about the Bay Area art scene through celebration and community. Routinely discussed challenges amongst artists include the lack of affordable venues and the presentation of public art, in which only a small handful of artists can participate in (and get paid!) By utilizing alternative spaces and putting art programming in the streets, the Common Grounds model allows for artists to come out in droves to rock the public art expectation, get paid and present challenging and quality art programming to the community.

So get out there and use art find some societal “common ground,” gang!
